Who we are

Aster is a small independent website that helps you find flights you'll actually enjoy. It's built and run by one person. You can reach us about anything in this policy at privacy@asteraway.com.

What we collect

If you use Aster without an account: nothing is sent to our servers about who you are. Your trip preferences live in your browser's session storage and disappear when you close the tab. We don't set tracking cookies, we don't run ads, and we don't use analytics that follow you around.

If you sign in with Google: we receive your Google email address and display name from Google, and we store:

  • Your email address and display name (to know whose account it is)
  • Your trip preferences and saved trips (so they're still there when you come back)

That's the whole list.

What we do with it

  • Show you your saved preferences and trips when you sign in
  • Recommend flights based on the preferences you gave us

We don't sell your data, share it with advertisers, or use it for anything else. There are no ads on Aster and no third-party trackers.

Where it's stored

Your account data is stored in the EU (Frankfurt) with Supabase, a hosted database service. Google's sign-in service handles signing in itself; we never see your Google password.

The lawful bit (UK GDPR)

We process your data on the basis of providing the service you asked for (storing your preferences and trips so they persist) and, for sign-in itself, your consent when you choose to continue with Google.

How long we keep it

Until you delete your account. Deleting your account removes your email, display name, preferences, and saved trips from our database immediately — it's a real delete, not an archive.

Your rights

  • Delete everything yourself, any time: Delete account in the app. No email to us, no waiting.
  • Ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to export it — email privacy@asteraway.com.
  • Complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk) if you're unhappy with how we handle your data. We'd rather you emailed us first so we can fix it.

Changes

If this policy changes we'll update it here. Anything significant, we'll flag on the site.
