Terms of service

These terms take effect on Aster's public launch day. They're the agreement between you and Aster — plain English, because a one-person site doesn't need forty pages of Latin.

1. What Aster is

Aster is a travel recommendation service. We suggest flights, areas to stay, and hotels based on what you tell us.

Aster does not sell travel. We are not an airline, hotel, or travel agent, and we don't take bookings or payments. When you buy a flight or book a hotel, that contract is between you and the provider (airline, hotel, booking site) — their terms, their prices, their problem if it goes wrong. Nothing on Aster creates a contract between you and us for travel itself.

2. Prices and availability aren't promises

Fares, hotel prices, availability, seat details, and local costs shown on Aster come from third-party data and estimates, and can change or be wrong. We work hard to make recommendations honest, but always check the final price and details with the provider before you pay. Aster isn't responsible if a fare has moved, a hotel is full, or a provider's information differs from ours.

3. Accounts

You can use Aster without an account. If you sign in with Google, we store your email, display name, preferences, and saved trips as described in the privacy policy. You can delete your account yourself at any time — deletion is immediate and complete. Keep your own Google account secure; you're responsible for what happens through your sign-in.

4. Acceptable use

Please don't:

  • Scrape Aster, hammer it with automated requests, or reverse-engineer it
  • Use it for anything unlawful, or to mislead anyone
  • Try to break it, probe its systems, or access data that isn't yours

If you do, we can block or delete your access. That's the whole enforcement policy.

5. Our content

Aster's design, text, branding, and recommendation logic belong to us. You're welcome to use the site normally; you're not licensed to copy, republish, or build a competing service from our content or data.

6. Liability (the reasonable version)

Aster is a free service provided "as is". To the extent UK law allows:

  • We don't promise the site is always available, error-free, or that recommendations are perfect
  • We're not liable for losses from decisions you make based on recommendations, from provider errors, or from things outside our control
  • Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or anything else UK law says can't be limited

If you're a consumer, your statutory rights (including under the Consumer Rights Act 2015) are unaffected.

7. Changes

We may update these terms; the date at the top will change and significant changes will be flagged on the site. Keep using Aster after a change and the new terms apply.

8. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction.
